Glam Glam Productions and Buddies and Bad Times Theatre's latest monthly sensation seeks contestants for an Amateur Drag Contest (semi-professionals welcome).

Come out, strut your stuff along side our hosts, Canada's premier drag troupe, The B-Girlz, on Friday Jan 29, 2009 at Tallulah's Cabaret as you clamor for glamour and the coveted "Gownie" as well as a cash prize of $100.

All contestants must perform a 3 -5 minute number - the more creative the better. Winners will be chosen by the audience.

We're about a week away from the debut of GOWNTOWN (Friday October 30)

Barbie-Q and I, Hard Kora have been busy learning some new precision coreo as well as ripping up old costumes to create some new costumes. Project Runway eat your heart out!

DJ Dwayne Minard is even getting a manicure as he preps those hands to spin some great house and disco tunez for all the kids of GOWNTOWN.

Xtra gave us a little nod in their Halloween Roundup today!

"If you’re gonna wig out, maybe you’d better work up to those heels the night before to avoid disastrous drag on the main strip. Consider stopping by The B-Girlz’ presentation of Gowntown on Fri, Oct 30 at Buddies (12 Alexander St) for some transtastic tips at this amateur drag contest featuring DJ Dwayne Minard. Starts at 10:30pm with a $5 cover.

The Girlz were kind enough to offer some advice in advance of the big day. “Remember when applying lipstick,” Barbie-Q advises, “go around the lips and across the teeth.”

GLAM-GLAM Productions presents GOWNTOWN - a new monthly event starting Friday, October 30th at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre hosted by Canada's premier drag troupe THE B-GIRLZ. Come join the colourful comedy duo with special guest stars and vote for your favourite drag performer of the night! Stay later for DJ/ DWAYNE MINARD and in her DJing debut, “DJHK” (DJ Hard Kora).

The outrageous B-GIRLZ are back, and this time with a whole new monthly night at Buddies in “B” Times.

GOWNTOWN is a night of drag performers - “old”, “new” and “only on a dare” - who compete to be audience favourite of the night and win $100 and “Gownie” trophy.

Enjoy SPECIAL GUEST performances by some of Canada’s most underrated and “not to be missed” acts - see what kind of trouble the B-Girlz can get into when left to their own devices.

Toronto’s top DJ & producer DWAYNE MINARD, fresh from his debut on Hed Kandi, gets your “hands up in the air” with chunky, funky disco/ house - and in her DJing debut, “DJHK” (DJ Hard Kora).

Gowntown will be held the 4th Friday of every month beginning in November.
